The ideal is to prepare them with bread that you make yourself in bread maker but if you are going to buy it look very well in the ingredients and opt for those breads that do not include sugar or other harmful ingredients, how much more natural better, that is, how much less ingredients they have.

Torrijas Fitness (6 torrijas)

  • 6 slices of cereal bread (buckwheat, spelled, oats, rye ...)
  • 2 cups of vegetable milk (whichever you prefer, almonds, oats, rice ...)
  • 2 eggs
  • Skin of 1 lemon
  • Skin of 1 orange
  • Cinnamon sticks and ground
  • Agave syrup

Elaboration: put the milk to boil with cinnamon sticks and lemon and orange skins, let it boil over low heat for 2-3 minutes and remove it from the heat. Add agape syrup and reserve allowing it to cool. Put the milk in a bowl once cold and put the bread to soak, slice by slice until the bread is well soaked (the rye takes a little longer to absorb the milk).

Once you have the slices well soaked in the milk, beat the eggs and, now, you can rebozarlas in the egg and fry them in the pan with extra virgin olive oil, or you can subtract calories by removing the oil by taking them to the oven at 200º for about 20 minutes (it will depend on the consistency of the bread you have chosen)

Once done sprinkle cinnamon on top and a splash of agave syrup. You can serve them with fruit and coconut milk. Your fitness torrijas are ready.

  • 250 grams of oatmeal (or buckwheat if you want to make them gluten-free)
  • 1 egg and one yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut sugar
  • 4 tablespoons aniseed powder
  • Stevia powder
  • EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)

Elaboration: mix the flour and the yeast in a bowl and add the egg, the yolk, 2 tablespoons of EVOO, the coconut sugar and the anise. Knead until you get a dough with consistency, leave it in the form of a ball and cover it with a dishcloth leaving it at rest for 30 minutes.

Once the dough rests, cut pieces and making cylinders of about 5 or 6 centimeters kneading with hands, and make the dough a cross section in each one. Now, you can either fry them in EVOO or if you want to subtract calories you can take the bones to the oven at 200º for about 20 minutes (depending on the thickness you have given to the sweets).
